Dumpy bags are usually designed to hold a ton of building material such as sand or gravel. Also called “bulk bags”, the most common size are 800mm square bags and can hold as little as 0.51 cubic metres of logs. A loose cubic metre is therefore almost double the size of a dumpy bag of logs.

Our standard logs are cut to around 9″ (25cm) long and are an easy size to handle and place in your wood burner or on an open fire.

Logs should be stored out of the weather. While exposure to a little bit of rain will make very little difference to the moisture content your logs, logs should not be exposed to extended rainfall or immersed in water.

Logs can be stored either inside or in a log store. Logs can also be stored outside provided they are stacked, covered and are kept off the ground

Because we air dry our wood, burning wood is carbon-neutral. When trees grow, they absorb carbon dioxide and generate oxygen that is essential for our planet’s survival. When wood is burned or left to decay on the forest floor it will release the same amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Wood is therefore an environmentally friendly fuel being a renewable energy source.

Damp and newly cut wood is difficult and inefficient to burn. In its natural state, wood contains from 65% to 95% of water. Dry – or ‘seasoned’ – wood gives a much higher energy output, which is why we cut the wood as soon as possible and store it in ventilated conditions until dry.
